Set against the flawless backdrop of the Ambassador to Brunei’s residence, the Philippines Embassy and members of the local design and architecture industry were treated to a sneak peek of what was in store at the 71st edition of Manila FAME — the Philippine’s premier trade show for the design, home, fashion, and lifestyle sectors. Ambassador Marian Jocelyn R. Tirol-Ignacio gave guest a tour of various items, some from her own personal collection, that were exhibited across her residence.

Manila FAME is a space for Bruneians to be inspiored with local Philippine artistry and craftsmanship, explained Jacqueline L.Ong, Third Secretary and Vice Consul to the embassy. She added the trade show “put the spotlight on bespoke culture as it highlights custom-made designs of furniture, home decor, lightings, homeware, gifts, beauty and wellness.” One of Manila FAME’s main show features, the Design Commune, serves as a showcase of brand new home, fashion and lifestyle pieces that have been created under the product development program of the Centre for International Trade Expositions and Missions (CITEM).

Manila FAME’s Design Commune merges artisanship, innovation, and sustainability as a means to push the boundaries of excellent product design. ” I thought the items displayed showed a rich diversity of different styles and materials which fittingly reflects the country’s unique cultural heritage,” said a local architect who was present at the showcase. This event marks the first outreach program on Manila FAME to Bruneian designers and it’s safe to say that our local designers and trade buyers are paying attention to what’s happening over there!
