On 13 January 2026, Singapore Airlines (SIA) Brunei celebrated its Platinum Jubilee with a red-carpet gala dinner at Royal Berkshire Hall, Jerudong Polo Tarindak. Over 250 guests — including Guest of Honour Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Abdul Manaf bin Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism, key partners, PPS Club members, and corporate customers, gathered to celebrate seven decades of service.

The ceremony opened with remarks by General Manager Brunei, Mr. Thomas Wong, followed by Senior Vice President, Sales and Marketing, Mr. Vinod Kannan, who extended a heartfelt congratulations on this remarkable journey.

A highlight of the evening was a congratulatory video featuring former General Managers — Mr. Ranjan Jha, Mr. Ang Beng Siong, Mr. Aldrin Arumugam, and Mr. Chua Kian Hwa — and formers Station Managers, Mr. Syukri Othman. Guests enjoyed live music and dance performances before a ceremonial cake-cutting officiated by Singapore Airlines’ Guest of Honour, Senior Vice President Sales and Marketing, Mr. Vinod Kannan; Regional VIce President, Southeast Asia, Mr. Louis Leonard Arul; General Manager Brunei, Mr. Thomas Wong.

As a token of appreciation for their role in contributing to Singapore Airlines’ success, guests receive a commemorative door gift. Al lucky draw was also conducted to offer attendees, exclusive gifts, shopping vouchers, KrisFlyer miles and tickets to exciting destinations.

“Our 70th Anniversary in Brunei is a tribute to our people, customers, and partners who have supported us across the decades,” said Mr. Thomas Wong, General Manager, Singapore Airlines Brunei. “We remain committed to delivering excellent service, strengthening our partnerships, and contributing to Brunei’s tourism and economy.”

Singapore Airlines has come a long way since its first flight to Brunei in 1955. Initially operating weekly DC-3 services under Malayan Airways to Bandar Seri Begawan, the airline grew steadily and operated a daily Fokker 37 (F27) service in 1972 when Singapore Airlines was established. Today, SIA operarts daily, flights between Brunei and Singapore with the Boeing 737-8. Supported by Thomas and his team, they continue to champion the SIA brand in Brunei.
