Thien-Thien Chicken Rice

No visit to Brunei would be complete without a stop at this perennial favourite, serving what must be the most famous chicken rice in town. The rice is too soft for my liking though, as I like my rice fluffy. The chicken however, is tender and juicy, served with a delicious soya sauce topping. The chili is bland and not fiery enough and would be tastier with a bit more garlic. The regulars would normally have their chicken rice with a bowl of beef and tripe soup – generous pieces of tender meat swimming in a rich beef broth. There is also the option of having chicken livers and gizzards with your dish, which I thoroughly enjoy. They may not serve the best chicken rice in town, but they are certainly the most well-known.
